Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang sting

Twenty more people have been arrested in an investigation that charges the Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang with waging a racist campaign to eliminate black people from a Southern California city.A task force arrested the suspects on Wednesday.The arrests stem from a sting against the Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang, which primarily operates in Hawaiian Gardens in southeastern Los Angeles County. An indictment unsealed in May details attempted murder, kidnapping, drug and other charges related to the gang's attacks.Since May, more than 300 gang members and associates have been arrested and charged in state and federal court.

Four Britons were being held on the Costa del Sol today accused of the shooting of a Liverpool man last month.Beachfront bar security boss Marvin Herbert was gunned down on September 24 at Puerto Banus, the millionaires’ yacht marina on the edge of Marbella.The 33-year-old was shot five times in the eye, the groin, pelvis, right leg and right arm.He was attacked in broad daylight by a lone gunman in front of dozens of witnesses.Herbert remains in hospital after a series of operations. Eight high-ranking gang members that make up the top leadership of a local chapter of the Latin Kings street gang were arrested on drug, assault and weapons charges, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy announced Friday. Two others, believed to be gang "associates" were also arrested.The arrests come as a result of an investigation that spanned several months and included aggressive efforts from the FBI Long Island Gang Task Force and the Suffolk County Police Department Special Operations Team.Gang violence has long plagued several communities on Long Island prompting the FBI to recently boost its anti-gang personnel and add more agents to gang crackdown investigations.Among those arrested include Angel Cordero Jr. who authorities describe as the leader of the Huntington-area chapter.
