Gang investigation "is ongoing," in North Portland

Shots rang out in North Portland Sunday afternoon.Portland Police Bureau responded to the scene of a reported shooting at McCuller Apartments, 236 N. Killingsworth St., around 3:40 p.m.The bureau has now released a press release on the incident. It reports that officers arrived and "determined that no one had been injured," according to the Portland Police Bureau press release.However, Gang Enforcement Officers also were called and have begun their own investigation. That gang investigation "is ongoing," according to the release.

Four Britons were being held on the Costa del Sol today accused of the shooting of a Liverpool man last month.Beachfront bar security boss Marvin Herbert was gunned down on September 24 at Puerto Banus, the millionaires’ yacht marina on the edge of Marbella.The 33-year-old was shot five times in the eye, the groin, pelvis, right leg and right arm.He was attacked in broad daylight by a lone gunman in front of dozens of witnesses.Herbert remains in hospital after a series of operations. Eight high-ranking gang members that make up the top leadership of a local chapter of the Latin Kings street gang were arrested on drug, assault and weapons charges, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy announced Friday. Two others, believed to be gang "associates" were also arrested.The arrests come as a result of an investigation that spanned several months and included aggressive efforts from the FBI Long Island Gang Task Force and the Suffolk County Police Department Special Operations Team.Gang violence has long plagued several communities on Long Island prompting the FBI to recently boost its anti-gang personnel and add more agents to gang crackdown investigations.Among those arrested include Angel Cordero Jr. who authorities describe as the leader of the Huntington-area chapter.
