Eight high-ranking gang members that make up the top leadership of a local chapter of the Latin Kings street gang were arrested on drug, assault and weapons charges, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy announced Friday. Two others, believed to be gang "associates" were also arrested.The arrests come as a result of an investigation that spanned several months and included aggressive efforts from the FBI Long Island Gang Task Force and the Suffolk County Police Department Special Operations Team.Gang violence has long plagued several communities on Long Island prompting the FBI to recently boost its anti-gang personnel and add more agents to gang crackdown investigations.Among those arrested include Angel Cordero Jr. who authorities describe as the leader of the Huntington-area chapter.
