Louis Eppolito and Stephen Caracappa, the NYPD cops who were convicted for eight murders on behalf of Luchese crime family underboss Anthony "Gaspipe" Casso, are scheduled to be sentenced on January 16, and Pauline Pipitone, the mother of one of the victims, still waits for justice on her wrongful death lawsuit against New York City which hired and promoted the Mafia Cops notwithstanding their criminal histories:It has been 22 years since Pauline Pipitone's beloved son, Nicholas Guido, was gunned down - an innocent victim of mobsters who got bad information from corrupt cops. She is still waiting for justice. Her son, a telephone installer with no mob connections, was gunned down on Christmas Day 1986 in front of the family home on 17th St. in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Former city detectives Louis Eppolito and Stephen Caracappa will be sentenced Jan. 16 in Brooklyn Federal Court on murder convictions for passing the address of the wrong Nicholas Guido to a mob hit man.
In her deposition taken by lawyers defending the city Pipitone is forced to recount the tragic Christmas Day:She was finally asked about the murder 58 pages into the 100-page Q&A, and she went on to explain the night that changed her life. After dinner, she said, Nicholas went outside with his uncle Tony to show him his new Nissan Maxima. They were sitting in the car when a gunman opened fire. "When I was doing the dishes, my brother-in-law comes running in and says, 'Hurry up, hurry up, he got shot,'" Pipitone recalled. Racing outside, she spotted the car parked across the street. "Nicholas was sitting behind the wheel. He had a white jacket and I saw blood coming from his heart," she said. "I went up to him, I touched his hand and I felt his fingers were cold and that was it."
